The Street Pub Model

This is the final model for my pub building for The Street. The model comes up to a nice 381 polygons, or 461 including the collision box; either way it is very much under the 5000 polygon  limit we were given for the building.

The model is somewhat basic, and is mostly made out of seperate objects. The bottom windows, upper windows, roof and wood planks were created as seperate objects to the main rectangle of the building. I felt that this gave me more room to model what I wanted it, and made the process easier. I just needed to line them up with the building correctly.

The texturing as well I think went well. As you can see from the bottom images the texture map looks fairly simple, with the space maximized by the planks, windows and roof being overlayed onto each other in the unwrap. All the textures I got from cgtextures.

While I didn’t spend much time in making the textures more realistic by adding effects in Photoshop, I did add a couple of decals to the walls which I think adds a nice simple touch to the building, and should make it look more realistic in The Street.

I feel a lot more confident with 3DS Max, the texture mapping especially after this project, which will do me well going into the 2nd year.
